Easy Apple and Goat Cheese Turnovers

Now that we’ve infused all the things, it’s time to get baking. It wouldn’t be Rosh Hashanah in our house without a yummy appetizer or two, so I came up with these apple and honey turnovers. I love how they turned out, and so did my taste testers.

So you’re probably like, “Rin, we can’t actually have people over this year.” I know. I wish we could, too, but I have good news for you. These apple turnovers not only freeze well, but they also make an excellent breakfast. Ask me how I know, ha!

Another bonus is that they’re hearty enough that if you wanted, you could wrap them up to share via porch drop off for friends or family nearby. It certainly won’t be the usual way we celebrate, but if we get creative enough; we can still smile together through the holidays.

Easy Apple and Goat Cheese Turnovers

  • 1 Box Frozen Puff Pastry Thawed
  • 8 Ounces Goat cheese Softened
  • 4 Ounces Cream cheese Softened
  • 2 Gala apples Cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 6 Tablespoons Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon juice


  • Combine water and lemon juice in a small bowl.
  • Core and thinly slice both apples. Dip apple slices in the lemon water, and set on a towel to dry.
  • Using a mixer, whip together the goat cheese, cream cheese, and 2 Tablespoons of honey until fluffy.
  • Roll out both sheets of puff pastry dough into squares. Cut each sheet into 12 smaller squares.
  • Place 1 Tablespoon of cheese in the center of each square. Top each dollop with 2 apple slices at a diagonal.
  • Wrap the puff pastry around the apples by bringing the adjacent corners to the center. Use a dab of water on the overlapping pastry to seal.
  • Place the turnovers on a parchment-lined cookie sheet 2 inches apart and bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Allow the turnovers to cool on a cookie rack. Drizzle honey over the turnovers before serving.
