French Onion Soup Sliders

As vegetarians, we have to search a little harder to find things that resemble comfort food. I’ve never been big on complicated meals or big recipes, so I’ve found that having food restrictions has forced me to be a bit more creative at mealtime. Sandwiches tend to either be salads on bread or grilled cheese. I love a good grilled cheese, so I decided to do some research on how to fancy them up.

Something that kept popping up were the Hawaiian Sweet Roll Sliders. I took out the ham, and went from there. While the original Worchester sauce-based glaze was delicious, I had a thought while reaching into the cupboard one day and saw some packets of onion soup mix. I decided to try the onion mix with butter, and man, it was awesome. It tasted just like French onion soup if it were a sandwich!

We’ve whipped these sandwiches up for both special occasions and Saturday afternoons at home. Either way, they seem to be crowd pleasers. Happy tummies, happy chef!
